She’d been coaching clients through a unique process that she developed, but in her mind it still felt like a huge idea-ball of yarn.
She knew she wanted to visually lay out what this process looked like, but didn’t know HOW to do it.
Bev tried writing it out by hand, typing it up in a document and sketching it out. She tried working with graphic designers to translate the sketch, but it was never quite right.
During our first meeting, I listened carefully and DREW what I heard her saying. We uncovered the threads and themes. I listened for the concrete steps and the outline of a framework, the steps and the outcome.
Bev had such a brilliant description the feelings that come through in her work and the unique magic that she brings. The visual notes guided Bev to clearly see both the big picture and the small steps for her business.
We met over the course of four weeks to discuss and draw out what would become the visual roadmap of her to-be-named signature process.
During each meeting, we’d brainstorm ideas for names of the steps, visual metaphors, colors, imagery, icons and shapes. We’d refine the steps and map out the next iteration. This is Version 2.0
With an updated sketch, we added in language for the sections and design choices. At this stage, we finalized the content and design.
With the content and the visual inspiration complete, it was time to translate the hand drawn notes into an 8’ by 4’ mural.
This phase utilizes grid work, pencil sketching and lots of Post-It® notes to place content.
The process moves from pencil to marker & pastel and takes anywhere from ten to twenty hours.
Here’s the final version of the Soul’s Calling® Roadmap.
Bev received the original drawing, personally shipped by me. It was a nerve-wracking few days tracking its journey via FedEx! She has digital versions in .jpeg and PDF so she could use them in smaller scale, printed and digital applications.
What has emerged from the map:
Jocelyn’s genius is being able to really listen with her whole self and help you see what is in your head. She creates a conceptual map, and then makes it visual, so that right-brain types (like me) can actually see it in front of them. It led to the creation of a book, a certification program, a new brand and new programs and offerings.
Jocelyn has the mind of an experienced business strategist with the heart of an artist, healer, and guide. I adore working with her!
